Im wondering about a floating slab that is keyed into a stemwall by means of having a 4 inch recess on the top of the 8 inch stemwall, so then the slab gets screeded off at that height.But now we frame partway onto the slab. It seems to me the slab should of butted into the stem.I know we frame bearing interior walls on the slab with footers under so maybe its not a problem. Im wondering if Im just neurotic or there is room for concern? Thanks in advance.

What does this question have to do with expansive soil?
*You are neurotic. Hope that makes you feel better.
*Well john expansive soil and floating slabs go together because of earth movement.If the slab heaves under bearing walls you get drywall cracking or worse.So my question was if they should have butted the concrete into an expansion joint instead of what was done.So we would be framing on the stemwall only.Now it has been verified im just neurotic so I feel better already. Thank you

*that is how I did mine, and alot others around here, but we do not have expasive soil in this area. we got sand, white, red, tan sand, everywhere sand. what we call clay is really sand.
