I forgot pictures.
six and 1/2 hours without moving, see the blue line.
I guess you are using hardi-backer...
BTW - that is never gonna work right. You used the wrong color of caulk... ;-)
.....yeah.......................I see it ,is that it .......under the clock ?"
What kind of truck is that?
the blue line is above the clockthat is the body to this truck. I had to do some welding on the frame.
Cool. Alabamas answer to Jesse James.
So what's the pupose of the experiment? To show that the water won't soak through?
just something I need to know.My great grandfather had a mule killed by the real jesse james in ne arkansas. that was a mean man
Mule was probably snoring or something hideous. There's a place not to far away from here that used to be a hotel now it's a house. He'd hide out there. Legend has it that there was a tunnel to another house. There he fathered a child by a local girl. Or something like that, I just wanted to fix the electric and get out when the old lady was babbling on about it.
is the top (uuh ... bottom) open?
waters gonna evaporate and ruin your test results.

...so what happens if it does leak??
"
18.5 hours.somebody said hardi board wasnt waterproof. I have been using my shower without tile yet. I just like to know.
I had to do the same thing in my bathroom, but I hung some plastic over the Hardi ,....... because I already had enough headaches in there..
what about the joints? won't water seep into the cracks?"
Try cutting some pieces of equal size, weighing them, then soaking half of them in water and weighing them later. Apparently Hardi siding will absorb 1/3 of its weight in water, which means it is holding quite a bit of water against your building.
Besides, it's not necessarily straight thru the board that the leaks occur, it's at the joints. Once you have water leaking in around a window, Hardi board will absorb quite a bit of it and keep it there.
its been over twenty hours and it starting to seep through. This is with a head of water sitting on top. I think it could handle a shower with no problem.
This is getting like that gun cam Jeff Buck posted a link too awhile back.
May I suggest another experiment?
Cut an orange/lime/grapefriut in half and set it on a piece of granite countertop.
Result? It soaks through!
Set it on a piece of solid surface or engineered stone, nothing.
I haven't tried this with chicken yet.
Good stuff--- I bet wonderboard would last about 10 seconds
When in doubt, get a bigger hammer!
How are you going to get the chicken to hold still?

A friend did a test of hardi backer when it was first available. He cut about 15 pieces 3"x3", and dumped them all into a bucket of water. The first week he cut 3 pieces in half to see if they had soaked through. He repeated the process for a month, and none of the pieces had soaked through. He left a couple pieces in the bucket for a few months, but the water started to stink, so he ended the experiement.
