hey fellas…i’m about to finish off a small garage, which has block walls to a height of 48″, with a cement plaster finish which is the norm here in sunny bermuda…i am to finish with stud framing…don’t ask why 🙂
my question lies with the exterior finish…i would like to finish it with a cement plaster as well, but wonder which sheathing/lath combination i should go with..wood rot is an extreme problem here…i’m leaning towards cement board (with joints filled)/lath (diamond metal or plastic??)/plaster, or else i could go with plywood/building paper/lath/plaster..
all opinions would be appreciated, especially from anyone in the southeast….

here in new england we have had good results using wonderboard and driv-it for the top coat, just make sure that you put the rough side out so the dri-vit adheres... good luck copperjohn
Here in the states we call that stucco.
sheathing, then tarpaper, then expanded metal wire lathe and two or three coat stucco job
