I’m replacing an existing steel door with a new mahogany one that’ll have an eastern exposure. Does anyone have any advice on the best product to finish the door with? I’ve been considering the Sikkens and McCloskey Marine Varnish products. I’ve even though about using Watco’s Teak Oil because of its ease of application… even though it would require more frequent attention.

The best would be an epoxy finish, like boat builders use.
Next best would be marine spar varnish.
But perhaps the most important aspect is the overhead exposure. Will this door be taking direct hits from rain, snow, maybe even some sleet? And even when the sun is shining, you need to be concerned with UV.
So, got a porch roof?
