Hi everyone, due to unexpected circumstances, I had to install 1/2 foil faced foam with tape on seams under 1x3s to create a rain screen for siding. I used 3.25 in GRKs to secure 1x3s to studs. New that I’m ready to side, I noticed that the furring isn’t level due to compression of the foam board. So now I’m going to run strings and shim where needed. My question is, what could I had done to avoid this issue? Should I had nailed the 1x3s with ring shank galvanized nails or just simple check level for every 1×3 as they go up. Also, the screw heads wouldn’t go flush at times and that’s when I think compression happened most. The plan is 2″ nails for the lap siding. Thanks
