Here’s a question from a new subscriber;
What is the best method of applying 1 inch thick rigid (foil backed)insulation to the exterior of a stucco clad residential home ?
1) Remove the stucco and apply directly to the exterior sheathing ?
2) Apply the insulation over the stucco ?
3) Stap the exterior and apply overtop ?
4) Wrap the home with Tyvex paper and apply sheathing over top ?
Apparently moisture problems can occur when applying directly over wood sheathing.

Gary, while I can't say I have any idea what the best way of doing what you ask is, I do think that it has to be about the worst way I could think of to retrofit insulation to a stucco house. One inch = R5 minus whatever leaks in your envelope is probably going to result in not much R anything for your efforts. Joe H
