I currently made a urethane mold for an exterior watertable for my home I’m
remodeling. This is a new application over a two month old brown coat of stucco. I
have made a white concrete and #60 sand casting that achieves the desired
look ,however it is quite heavy (about 25 lbs.)for it’s size (appr. 3″x8″x18″) I am
looking for some material that I can mix that would more lightweight that I could
thinset to the browncoat. This is all archetecural and has no structural value at all.
any Ideas?

Welcome, newbie. Where are you?
As to the molding, you might try Durhams Rock Hard Water Putty, comes in a round red can with my picture on the front :) It has to be sealed, but it is suppoesed to be castable and is designed for exterior use.
Add perlite insulation to the crete mix in place of the coarse aggregate.

Do not try this at home!

I've heard of lightweight fillers although I was concerned how they might affect the finish. I was wondering if anyone has heard of aerated cement. I've heard of it but haven't had any luck in finding it in my area( SF Bay area). I was also wondering if anyone knows what composition lightweight roof tiles are made of as that might be a possible avenue.
I have a bag of Scofield Overlay (light weight concrete) in my garage waiting for the testing.
Article in FHB about its use for counter top where weight was a concern. Perlite as the aggregate would be a cheaper solution. But if that doesn't work......

Thanks for the info. I just ordered 50 lbs. of Fillite and I'll see how it works this weekend. I'll see about perlite if this is a bust.
Might be too late, but...what about forming it from rigid foam and then caoting it with fiberglass like a boat hull? Or with eifs material?
BTW....if you ever do this again......here in the land of stucco adornment is created from whatever....celotex, sytrofoam.....placed under the wire b4 scratch.
