I’ve used Penofin for the last ten years, with excellent results. The redwood siding has developed a deep lasting finish with applications initially every year and now, every two years on the weather side of the building. Now that I’m building again, I would like a similar effect, but the price of Penofin is up to $30 per gallon (slight discount for 5gal. cans). Does anyone have any experience with other similar products. I’m looking for a natural or clear finish. (After the wood darkens I’ll switch to a tinted version of the same product.) Penofin contains metalic oxides which help reflect UV light and its consequences. I talked with a Benjamin-Moore dealer and found their product called Moore Wood for $115 per 5 gal. Another recommendation was for Super Deck at $90 per gal. If you have first hand experience with these, or other products, over a period of years, please let me know what you think.
Thanks, Dave
