Does anyone have experience rejuvenating faded and/or streaked T-111 type siding? The siding is 15 years old, and installed near Sedona, AZ.. Most of the fading seems to be from sun exposure.
A local handyman recommends a oil based semi-transparent stain, but can provide no examples of this treatment.
I’m afraid it will adhere differently to the faded portion, than to the protected / like-new sections. Or that it will require a re-coat every 2 years.
Any suggestions?

Have you considered washing it with tsp or a similar cleaner, then applying the stain?
Yes, I forgot to mention that the handyman suggested pressure washing it first.
I still think it unlikely that the surface will become uniform enough for a semi-transparent stain. Especially one that won’t need to be renewed every 2 years.
What's on it now?
What are you trying to achieve? preserving the natural beauty of T-111? <g>
I'd opt for a 100% acrylic solid color stain
It's not the habitat, it's the inhabitants.
Won't you be my neighbor
It has a natural wood grain type of surface imprinted on it. Which we would prefer to preserve if possible, instead of creating a solid surface.
