I recently replaced the lenses in the some 2×4 recessed fluorescent fixtures to help even out the light distribution. They do seem to diffuse the light more evenly, but even though they are sized exactly the same as the originals, the flimsy new lenses fall out if someone slams a door. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there an easy fix?

Get some decent quality plastic. I wish I could remember the name of the outfit I used out of Minneapolis when I got some for a backlit ceiling in our kitchen.
Make sure you get acrylic, not styrene. The styrene yellows very quickly.
Dan's right. Find yourself an industrial supplier. There's a world of diffusers available. You're gonna be surprised.
