This is the Cottage you have all been helping us build. The current status is first coat on the interior drywall. Many hours of interior work left to do. I think the warm pictures are from August. The cold shot (numbered) is from 1 month ago. Lake Michigan is pretty fickle.

Prescriptive codes don't address the connection at less common angles, so base the connection off more typical ones using bolts, structural screws, blocking, and steel tension ties.

Looking good, but it looks like you were losing your battle against the snow in the winter pic
Another BIL was up there with me for the day. He gave me 8 hours and I poured the tile shower base with him. I wasn't going to waste free labor on snow shoveling.
With a gravel drive a big plus is that you don't get stuck unless the snow gets to be a foot or more. The wind on the bluff reaches 50 MPH quite often. The snow tends to move on the lake after one of those blows rather than stick around and bother me.

Here are the next stages or projects to come.
The loft shows the exposed collar ties. The ceiling is to be T&G cedar so I won't have to worry about cracks on the expanse of white. The square gap in the loft (next to the post) is the masonry fireplace & chimney location. The base lurks beneath the main floor in the full basement.
The ladder in the hole is the location for a two floor spiral steel staircase. Possibly my most nervous purchase. Rotation, platforms, and interface with the hardwood floor to come are just a few of the possible ways to mess up the project.Jack of all trades and master of none - you got a problem with that?
