Is it standard practice to put building paper in between fascia and sub fascia? I was just asked to do this on a building but it was the first time I’ve done it this way. Does it make a difference in preventing rot?
Thanks, Vern.

I've never been asked, never done it nor have I ever seen it done.
I would think back priming the fascia would be a tip I'd push more often.
What material is the fascia?
The paper would assist in preventing rot from migrating from the fascia to the subfascia, but with the right choice of materials rot shouldn't be a problem in the first place.
(Of course, around here subfascia often isn't used.)
The fascia is stained cedar, it's good quality. The owner said he did his house like this 35 years ago. It still looks good, the cedar(trim and siding) has weathered but looks good. He initially treated the cedar with a stain and hasn't done anything since it was built. Maybe it makes a difference but I don't really understand how it could.
Thanks.
