Hello,
I’m trying to figure out the best way to install fascia and a box end on a weird section of roof, picture attached. The soffit and fascia from the other side of the roof hangs below the fascia of the upper side (currently covered in Typar for temporary weather resistance)
Would it be best to install an 8″ fascia along the drip edge, and box the end of the fascia and soffit where the roof slopes?
Also, for the small section of exposed wall sheathing below the fascia, what would be recommended as cladding here? The valley flashing comes up about 1 foot (roofers installed a 4′ x 10′ pan over ice and water). I’m kind of thinking just flash the whole wall with galvanized aluminum below the fascia but I would appreciate any input.
Thanks in advance

Do you have a picture that shows this whole connection of roofs? Maybe shot from a tree, neighbors roof or upper window?
Thanks.
Here's another angle that shows the roof intersections
Wow.
Almost sorry I asked.
I’d be tempted to dump a couple buckets of marbles or golf balls and view the trajectory before I answered.
That said I’d say that at the least all flashings should go well up and behind everywhere down hill from the top of the highest valley.
Is some of this a recent addition?
Sorry for no suggestion on the first question yet.
Hello,
Thanks for taking a look at this. I know it's a strange area. The addition is about 18 years old, bought the house almost two years ago and last winter we had water come in through this area.
We just re-roofed, the slope in this dead valley was actually modified to make it a little steeper (it was almost flat, thus the water working into the house).
I guess at this point I'm mostly curious if I should bother with siding the wall area, or just flash all the way up to the drip edge. I'm kind of resigned to this being a weird part of the roof, but it has been marginally improved over the old valley which had drainage problems.
Ice and water shield over flashing and maybe a sheet form of pvc (Azek) over that. Deal with what happens at the bottom as well. A kick out flashing properly sized and perhaps a funnel type of director wouldn’t hurt a thing.
Unless of course you live in a very low rainfall area.
Best of luck and do come back with the finish. That’s one of those projects I think most of us would be best off getting up there and taking a look. Your photos are good but there’s so much going on.
