My Occidental bags are dying. They are the Cordura lline, not the full leathers. They did well – about 7 years, but they’re stretching and losing shape and becoming “self-bailing”, i.e., longer tools just tip over and out.
So any recommendations out there for something less well known? Besides DeWalt and Makita as well. I seem to recall a “Diamond” brand advertised in FH, but can’t find anything with Google.
Thanks for all advice.

May I ask why not getting the same again? 7 years of use sounds pretty good to me. I have a cheap-o leather bag that I got at Lowes, 2 years of occasional use, and the stitching is already coming un-done from one of the bags. I have often thought about picking up a occidental bag.
I've seen some framing bags in Duluth Trading Co's catalogue that appear to be pretty tough, cordura material.
I have the Occi barrel bag and like it. If you decide you want the Makita one I have one I was considering putting on ebay. Brand new with tag. Probably $60 plus actual shiping. It is just too much bag for what I do.
Occidental makes the best bags I have encountered. Get a new set and enjoy. Having both, I prefer the cordura to the all leather, which is somewhat stretched out.

The "diamond" brand was Diamond Back USA. They are no longer in business. There belts had alot of options but the wide belts were hot. A belt from them was about 150.00+. I have leather bags from Sears Craftsman that have held up fairly well. They are the individual heavy leather bags not the one peice. There great framing bags but a little to big for interior finish.
I used to have the craftsman bags also, the only problem with them is that there were so many pouches on them that I ended up carrying more stuff around. :-)
I have had the Occy lite framers for about 10 yrs now and would buy them again if I had to. I like them because they're lightweight and they dry out overnight.

Who Dares Wins.
I second the McRose Leathers. I have a great pouch from them on my mongrel set of bags. You used to be able to order any pouch individually, and I think they will still make up just about anything if you ask nicely.
Hope this helps. Rich.
I've got a pair of Occidental Ocxy Lites. No complaints at all! I picked it up a few years ago form Woodworkers Warehouse before they closed up. If and when I need another belt I'll get Occidental again, probably from Duluth Trading. I've also got a matching cell phone pouch from Occidental, it's indestructible and has a heavy duty metal belt clip.
