I have a Ryobi bts20 tablesaw; the fence it came with is not parralel to the blade. Can’t find any way to adjust it. After market fences cost almost as the saw. Making an accurate, easy to use one doesn’t look simple. What am I missing?

Friend,
If you are unable to get a replacement from factory, I encourage you to replace the saw. Some of our workers have replaced their Ryobi for similar problem... Bosch seems to be great and pain free.
I'd strongly encourage you to take the saw back and buy either the Bosch or Dewalt
depending on your use. I made the same mistake and promptly got rid of the saw.
The weird mitre gage isn't exactly an engineering masterpiece either.

Before I got fed up with that saw...
I "manually" lined the guard up every time.
It has enough slop in it that as you move it into position the
far end lags behind.
On mine if I held the head firmly against it's rail as I
locked it down it would mostly be true.
If memory serves me right the actual adjustment is the screw
on the top of the rail.
