I bought a Festool sander after reading a review or two. It is a great sander and is well made, but it is terrible for dust collection. One of the reviews I read rated it the best for collection! What’s your experience?

I thought great dust collection was one of the main reasons for spending all that loot on any of the Festool stuff.
What are you using for a vacuum cleaner?
Read the directions. Something is wrong with the vacuum?
Hoagie,
Is the vaccume turned all the way up, it has a speed controll.... that sander was designed with dust collection in mind and it kicks butt.... i think dino is right... somentings wrong, if you don't get it sorted give them a call. their customer service is 1st rate.

Thanks for the ideas. I didn't realize there was a speed control... Maybe I will look at those directions!
hoagie,
the speed controll is on the vac ( if you have the festool vac ct22 or ct33e) there will be a little green knob with a turtle and a rabbit... you want the rabbit for dust collection.
james
You do not say if you bought the sander with one of their vacs, such as the CT-22.
Although I don't think this is necessary, crank up the speed to the rabbit setting.
If you didn't get the vac, then you over-spent on the sander.
Hi every one
I recently stopped at Austin hardwood in so. Cal, they have both Fein and Festool displays. On the spec.(noise level and static water lift) Fein seem beter and about $100 cheaper. But I don't know , does Festool sander fit Fein vacuum or not?
thanks

Probably. My Porter Cable sanders fit just fine on my Festool vac.Andy Engel
