John Michael Davis, the restoration carpenter that has written several articles for FHB. I think he was a resident of New Orleans, I was wondering if the staff at FHB has heard from him since Katrina. Hope he is doing okay, he’ll have loads of restoration work to do now.

Paddy,
Thanks for your concern. I believe the last person to talk to Mike Davis was Tom O'Brien (another guy you all know). This is what Tom's email had to say:
I had a good, long conversation with Mike Davis yesterday. He's currently in Monroe, Louisiana, staying at his mother's house. He sounds good. He's optimistic about getting back in to New Orleans as soon as the authorities allow it and picking up the pieces. He lives uptown in the Carrolton section which is higher ground and "only" got about two feet of flood water. So that part of town was not destroyed like lower lying areas.
I've also heard from another person who spoke to him that he has spent a lot of time drying out his tools!

Thanks for the reply, glad to here that he is doing good. It's ashame that all his tools got soaked
Paddy,
I was wondering the same thing the other day, but it never occurred to me to post it. My parents used to live in N.O. so his articles always make me think of their old place.
