i looove fhb magazine but, man alive, the website is so frustrating. i am a member but can never view any of the articles. it always asks me to sign in when i’m already signed in. for example, i want to read the article “the well lit kitchen” but when i click on it, it asks me to sign in… i sign in AGAIN, it takes me back to the headline of the article but i can’t read the whole article, just the little blurb. what gives?

Builder’s Advocate: An Interview With ViewrailHighlights
"I have learned so much thanks to the searchable articles on the FHB website. I can confidently say that I expect to be a life-long subscriber." - M.K.

posting your message here will probably get you no reply.
However, contact the magazine or FHBweb or scroll down to the bottom of the page and find FineHomebuilding and click on the link for Online Membership.
Best of luck.
Cookie settings
I'm just guessing that the cookie settings on your browser aren't letting the site set a cookie it needs to recognize you as a member.
I once told my browser to not set a cookie for a webpage I didn't want to set one, and it remembered that decision for that domain. Took me a few weeks to straighten it out.
fhb website
problem solved, boys. once again, I'M the idiot: i assumed whatever membership you need to log-in to the website, post on here, etc, allowed you to view the articles. i needed the online membership. that said, still a tad misleading. thanks for your help!
@calvin what did you mean by posting on here will probably not get me any replies?
What did I mean?
Well, take a look at the HELP/FEEDBACK section. Open any of the 3 folders and read most any post that has to do with a question of this forum, the mag or even the online membership.
The common thing you might find with them all is the lack of many replies from the officialdom.
Odd?
Not really. 'The monitoring of this forum by the various administrators is almost none. About all you can expect is maybe some reply from one of us "members" of the forum and what do we know? Not too darn much.
howdy stranger!
Aw, shouldn't you be outside pitching horseshoes?
Jim
I'll be ready for our game, whenever that might happen.
And no, the rain continues to fall and there's no pleasure in the muck that follows.
How's things?
Who the [JOBSITE WORD] gives
Who the fuck gives a shit anymore here! The Mollum is NOT working, except to keep people from using this forum!
Dan's had a thread running for ages asking politiely and is ignored.
I try to help somebody with a question and I have hit the damn thing 14 times to get my friggin reply registered!
If it takes carpet bombing to get somebody to pay attention, I am ready and willing. There are capapble professionals avoiding this site because Taunton will not maintain it and take care of minor things like this idiotic Mollum that does not work right!
edit to add the fix for now, http://forums.finehomebuilding.com/help-and-feedback/forum-suggestions/mollom-captcha-trouble
Why don't you stay away from here. Obviously it is no joy for you anymore. All your nonsense posting is a pain in the ass, and I know it will have no effect on mgmt at Taunton, they can't fix the forum, and they don't read it either. It is what it is now, it aint ever going to change.
Sure, jst sit by like sheep and watch them shove sh!t down peoples throats!
Sorry, I ain't built that way.
Thjey use the mollim to make things easier for them in the office, while making it all harder for everyone here tryuing to use this. That is great disrespect for their clientele. I expect that from the Govt but not from businesspeople.
They need to be reminded that the titlele of the rag is FINE homebuilding, not Halfazzed homebuilding. This forum as they have it now is anything but fine and does not reflect on the standards they purport to demonstrate. Instead, it demonstrates hjow cheap and lazy they can do a website
Yeah, but they dont read anything posted here. You see the list of forum updates? Last one is from july 25, which is pretty bad, but its not even from this year!
This forum is done, stick a fork in it!
And I screwed up and posted to the OP. Then had to enter my mollum code, once. I think you need to click the post button after you enter the code, not the return key, which doesn't work. Yeah it sux, but it aint changing. They aren't going to do anything.
sure thing - they think they can sit back and ignore the forums altogether unless ther is a ajor bigtime problem and controversy polluting it.
So I am pointing out how much it stinlks
Stir the pot and the stink rises
Will they notice?
Who the h3ll knows!
Would a Whaleshark notice a sucker fish?
More likely than the mods here.
Well, I got an answer
Had an email and a call with Gina after Dan noticed this. Very pleasent lady and very good conversation.
I got attention and they are working now on a fix for this thing.
I got the impression that fixing it was on the list of "things we might get to someday when we can get to it" without them realizing how bad it is.
Now they know
ha ha ha
"email and a call.................."
"I got attention".....................
oh boy, that's a good one.
He quacks me up.
U think I'm lying?!
lying? never even came to mind.
More like the replies all of us that stayed around here get when we push for change.
Then we of course back off and say thank you and all that.
You could be elected mayor if you succeed in this one.
Never believe everything you hear or read
or say for that matter.
OK, well here's the deal.
Understand what your say. Dan M came on with great good intentions and paved the way to h3ll here, didn't he?
Anyways, he saw that there was a probelm here this AM and handed it off to Gina. She emailed me at 10:22AM stating that Dan had asked her to look into this and find out what was wrong. From the way her email was worded, he had not seen all my details written here, or had not let her know about all of it.
She had her phone # included in the email so I called her and we had a nice long chat an d I detailed what I saw about why th emollum was causing problems, and made a suggestion as tpo how to fix it and still let FHB have the protection from spam that it affords them. She sounded sincerly excited about that positive suggestion and was going to talk with the tech guys about it.
That was to give thoise of us who are trusted members with a history a way to avoid that mollum thing alltogether once we log in.
Within a couple hours, she had emailed vback thgat she had added me to a sort of a white list....
"I may have actually been able to fix this problem.
I added you to a new “trusted user” group. This should let you bypass the captcha filter.
Give it a test drive. Let me know if you still run into the CAPTCHA."
So I am giving the testing a workout, trying to hit several threads with posts. I have not as yet run into the Captcha at all. If her work-round works for me, it should be avai;lable to others soon.
Call her back
and include the other names of users you would consider good standing members.
Now that would be a real help.
You're Welcome!

That fix was suggested when they first signed on with mollom
It wasn't new news. That they found yet another person to put the job onto is not as remarkable as she was able to do it.
Go back and read all the suggestions that you may have missed and give her a call in the morning. You'll pass mayor and go all the way to premier if you pull that off.
Best of luck.
What about the rest of us?
sure
you go back and remember the other suggestions and then get the phone number and give her a call.
Yeah, but they dont read
Sorry, for Piffin
