The GC I work for is a dealer for these things. I got my first exposure to them when I drove to the factory and picked one up Friday. It’s going in the ground Monday. (Later today)
From what I know about selling them so far it sounds like they have a decent profit margin.
Just curious if anyone else here has sold them, and what kind of luck you’ve had.

I have nothing to give you cept... give us a link? or somethin?
I figured if anyone had sold the things they'd already know what they looked like.(-:This is the company we're a dealer for:http://www.sheltersonline.com/models.html
how much do those run? we don't get twisters here, but me and the neighbor were just talking about man cave options yesterday!!!!!!!
im thinkin the 20 model would hold the 8 lcds we'd want for football season, and still allow room for the 3-4 kegs. :)
As best as I can remember, installed prices run something like this:4 person - 4,0006 person - 5,50010 person - 7,50018 person - DFKSupposedly the 10 person is the best seller. Don't know why.

yeah, I can only think of 9 supermodels I'd like to survive the appocalypse with. 17 of em would just grow tiresome. :)
So what has you online at this time of the morning?I'm working at Best Western, and have the night audit done. Pretty quiet night, so not much else to do.

Probably because it's big enough for a bed. Better than a doghouse and cheaper than a motel room when DW kicks you out.
Yeah look at the 4 person one. I hope you don't have claustrophobia, that bad boy would get stinking in no time at all.
Jeez, They want you to stick 10 adults in a 55 sq ft milk jug?
We have a full sized one of those in our shop, and I don't think it's bad. It would be cozy for 10 people if you were there for a long time. But usually I don't figure they'll be full, and it will only be for short periods of time.

<<<and it will only be for short periods of time>>>Maybe where you are, but in hurricane country where the storms take a long time to pass, I'd want the more spacious one, especially if there was a potty (drywall mud bucket) in it.
I don't think an in ground shelter would be a good idea in hurricane country.
The trouble with her is that she lacks the power of conversation but not the power of speech. [George Bernard Shaw]
Possibly not, but if you're away from the storm surge it would probably be ok.
Yeah, these would be great for tornadoes but probably not for hurricanes...at least not in Florida as pretty much everywhere is close to the water tableflood zone so just digging it into the ground on a dry day you might hit water...then when the storms come, you're gonna be swimming! Even if you are not near the coast..
Yeah, but the things should float, right?

Good for all natural disasters. In FL, you don't bury them, you use them like a life boat, just hop in and button down the lid just before the storm makes landfall.
it really depends where you at. most storm surge only hurt the first couple hundred feet of the coast, not more than a 1/2 mile at the most. It be nice to be some where you know the roof wont blow off. Instead of the local sherriff telling you to leave town and get caught on the open road without gas or shelter
Looks like it could double as a septic tank -- a tofer!

Man I'm thinking that would have been awesome for my folks to have when I was a teenager.
Ron, Blodgett had a place near him that we figgered sold those things-we did remark on "militial bunkers", but maybe Jim delved into it since the Fest.
