2″ diameter hole in side wall. Failed bondo repair. Homeowner is willing to replace tub but it is such a second story bitch I’d like to hear some input about the possibility of a successful repair.

Contact your plumbing supplier. Around here there is a co. by the name of The Tub Doctor. They do repair to cracks chips etc on acrylic/gelcoat tubs and showers. They make 'em dissappear. Whether they could do it to a 2" hole, don't know. Have only used them for supplier warranty work. Order an Aquaglas, set up the tub doctor cuz I know something will be dinged.

Any boats in your area. If so, find a good fiberglass guy at one of the harbors or marinas. They won't be too thrilled about a non-boat repair, but they can do it and do a darn near perfect ( if not perfect job). The toughest part will be getting the gel-coat to match. Might want to contact the tub manufacture to get a good match.
I had two tubs in my home get trashed, both look perfect now. Of course my town (Sitka, AK) has more boats than people living here
What Calvin said... "They make em disappear". I just had one fixed a week or 2 ago. Costs about $150, although the plumbing supply paid for it... long story.
Also, can't remember if I was in Lowes or HD, but they had a fiberglass tub repair kit. They also had the fiberglass cloth, resin, and all that other stuff. You may likely need to 'get behind it' though. Also, if it isn't white, I'd definitely leave it for a pro.
