Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a lot in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have plans for a home that I believe would work well on the site. Now I need to find a builder and I don’t know how to get started. Any ideas?
Thanks, Janine

Well janine, you could contact the local homebuilders association.........but then again, around here.......some of the former presidents have gone outta business, a few members shouldn't be building dog houses. You could look at a few models, but by the time things are covered up, it's a bit late to see the real quality. Friends who have used a builder are usually forthcoming with their opinion on their experience. Still no guarantee, as sometimes their judgement is a bit clouded due to all the money they dumped into their dream home. I've known people going into lumberyards (real ones) and asking about good builders. They would have a take on time taken to build, quality of material, prompt pmt of bills, and if they know their business well, perhaps on the quality of construction. Still, you need to know the lumberyards reputation b/4 taking their word for gospel.
But don't despair, all of these above are what you can and should do. If you do your homework, you just might get the best guy and the resulting best house. Best of luck.
