I am looking for the best way to design a very high end room size closet with all the latest ideas and gadgets. Unfortunately, I don’t know much about this area. Can you offer suggestions?

Surely, this is not a serious request.
Go find a high end cabinet maker and tell him or her what you want and they will make it for you.
Fine cabinetry is not learnt on the internet and it's an insult to the fine craftmen that do this for a living to do so.

Actually, I built a $10,000 closet a couple years ago (seriously). Solid Oak Bead Board sides and backs; Sliding Wood frame stained glass doors; Halogen under shelf lights, numerous drawer banks with accuride slides, and tile counters. Don't forget beveled mirrors, and antique lighting as well. The guy had more money than brains.

John, of course there's high end cabinets being built and installed in many beautiful homes and for people with both brains and money.
But Floyd isn't playing fair.
His title is "Fine Cabinetry for Closets" which most of us would take as being solid woods, normally in the exotic species, brass fittings etc.
No description is given, no sizes,is it a walk in closet in need of an organizer or a side entry closet that requires the work.
While I would be the first to discourage long winded explaination of the problem out for discussion, at least it should contain enough for us to zero in on the right answer to the right problem.
A lot of treads are all over the place because of misdirections on the part of the party requesting advice. We should take advantage of the broad range of people that are tuned into this chat room and we will all gain from honest frank discussions.
So Floyd, if you want real advice, tell us exactly the situation.
*Or, hire someone, and pay for their experience.
*It is always interesting how different people have different understandings of questions, especially when the question is as vague as this one. I assumed that Floyd has the fine carpentry skills, but that he has never done a closet. He is "looking for the best way to design" the closet. Which I take to mean what are the best closet systems? or something along that line.Which is it, Floyd?Rich Beckman
*Floyd a great closet design starts with talking to the client to understand their needs.
*On occasion, I peruse the magazine rack while my bride shops for groceries.I've gotten some pretty good ideas from decorating magazines, Siematic(sp?)/Smallbone catalogues, and once from, on a whim, stopping in at a huge monster of a place that was up for sale on "open house" day.
*Rich, that was my reading, too. What he needs to do is check out a major cabinet hardware supplier for all the high-tech goodies that are available. Then, evaluate the client needs and be able to supply the right hardware and wood work for a great closet.
*Floyd I hate to say this, and your wife will kill me, but its a closet. put in something fairly cheap and buy yourself a new hot tub with all the extra money. Besides how often do you wind up sitting in your closet to just relax?
*I was going to propose a closet theater system with cutting edge electronics and a plasma screen. Shutting the closet door could provide the ultimate enclosure for acoustics and lighting, I'd think.
*you know now that I sit back and read my reply and think about the question. An alternate idea is those really nice systems that hang on a rail, they can usually be custom designed according to a clients wishes, and are fairly easy to install.
