I am trying to make a decision on purchasing a finish nailer for home use. I plan on using it to hang crown, base molding, chair rail etc. I understand that one nailer will not do everything that I plan to but I think I’ve narrowed my initial purchase to two guns; Porter Cable’s DA250A 15GA angle nailer and Senco’s SFN40K 15 GA. Since price IS a factor in this decision I am leaning more towards C. I would appreciate any feedback/advice from anyone with experience with tthewo guns. Thanks

George,
We are an interior trim company. I own three of the DA250's that I use to loan to the guys who don't yet have a gun that will shoot up to 2 1/2". The gun works great. In my opinion it's just as good as the Senco. I have the SFN2 also, but it's probably a 70's model. I'll bet it weights 20 lbs.
I'd go for the Porter Cable. That's my opinion. We use them 40hrs a week year in and year out.
Ed.
*George... I think that if you are going to get one gun to do as many jobs as you can with, I would steer you away from any 15 guage gun. I think a 16 guage gun is going to be much more versitile for you. I know trim carpenters who use a 16 guage gun for everything and don't even own a 15 G. (personally, I like to use my 18 G. for most base and trim.)
*Ed.Just wondering how you guys have your P-C guns set up, with bounce fire or sequential trip triggers. When I had my DA-250 it only had bounce fire and on several occasions would double fire right when you didnt need it. For this reason I sold my DA 250. Shortly after that P-C came out with the red trigger for sequential trip.Frank
*MD my pc does the same thing, I like it in spite of the double fire for the money its a good gun
*Ron,My DA250 was very reliable also. I do know that now you can obtain a red colored trigger from P-C that changes it over to sequential trip. In fact,I think they have it now where if you purchase a DA250, it comes with both triggers.I have the 2" P-C 18 ga brad nailer, the narrow crown stapler, and an oldP-C 18 ga brad nailer that only shoots up to 1-1/4" brads. I use them on a daily basis and have never had a problem, or a mifire or jamb from any of them.Frank
*Latest issue of FHB has an article on finish nailers.... Fellow writing it recommended a 16g as a "do it all" gun if you're restricted to one gun... Might be worth picking up a copy and reading the article before buying.... My Paslode 16g works just fine... Sam
*I own the 18ga nailer and the narrow crown stapler see MD great minds do think alike ;)

*I keep telling youse guys this is the dream machine.
*b Hitachi advice?I've just purchased a 15ga. angled finish nailer, and the 1-1/4" finish nailer. I see a lot of Porter Cable praise out there - anything good to say of these tools, or have I made a poor choice?Thinking about their 8 1/2" compound slide as well - we do a lot of trim in older homes, and would love the 12" capacity and detents for crown moulding. All the finhomebuilding reviews seem to leave out Hitachi - why? They seem like quality tools, just costly. Thanks
