I am looking to purchase a finish nailer and need some advice. I have looked into the Max NF550 nailer, which got a good review from Tools of the Trade, has anyone had any experience with this gun or any others? Also I can’t seem to find any on-line retailers or local retailers that carry Max nail guns.

Recently I spent about a week researching finish nailers. I'm not a full-time remodeler BUT I appreciate good tools. I purchased the MAX NF550 a week ago, based largely in part on the Tools of the Trade review. I've used it once and love it. I like the fact that it is impossible to double fire.
I made my purchase over the phone from Duo-Fast Northeast they have a web site at http://www.staplesandnails.com
The total with 2 day shipping was $357.70 If anyone knows where this could have been purchased cheaper, please let me know - I can always use it for future reference.
BTW this is my first post/reply - hope I'll be making a contribution when I do post.....
*If ya can't find the gun local....make sure you can find the nails! Jeff
*Thanks to you both for your input. After doing some more research, I've decided on the Senco SFN40. This gun seems to have quite a good reputation, along with the fact that I can get nails for it without having to hunt for them!
*5 words for you Bill. S. E. N. C. O. Its the only way to go if you're buying a trim gun.
*I have a SFN 40, and it's a great tool when you need 2+1/2" (8d) nails. But more often than not I use my SFN1. It only takes 2" (6d) nails, but it's a lot smaller and lighter than the SFN 40. I think I might have bought it in the early 80's, but except for the time it shot me, I haven't had any problems with it. I'm with Chuck, Senco.
*Senco, senco. SFN40 + SF1 = happy finish nailing for this camper. Mike
*Jimbo, In your window trimming article what gun are you using? Skip
*I was wondering the same thing. It looks like an old Paslode 16 ga nailer to me. How about it Jim?
*Senco's are great. I've got the SFN1 and 40.But for the guy with a budget, Porter Cable can't be beat.Ed.
*Yep Frank that's what I thought.I've had one for many moons and it has been a good one. My next one will be 15 gauge because the ones I've used do a better job of holding.Liked the Senco I used. Skip
