Asphalt shingle question: How do I finish roofing a shed? This is not a shed roof intersecting a steeper roof, but a free-standing stucture. I’m thinking I need to install a strip of roll-roofing over the butt edge of the highest course of conventional shingles, so that the ends (apices) of the slots are covered. Better than nailing on a series of loose tabs. If that is the way to go, should I cement as well as nail?

Here's what I do...
I shingle until the first time the shingle course runs past the edge and cut the over hang off.
Then I instal the metal drip edge that in other areas would be entirely under the shingles.
Then I finish her off with ridge caps cut like normal but huing over the metal half an inch

Thanks, Piffin, from your neighbor on Vinalhaven. I'll try that, and I'm sure it will look better than the roll roofing solution.
