Finishing Basements & Insulating
I live in the Detroit area. I’m finalizing plans to finish my basement. One area of concern is insulating the perimeter 2″ x 4″ stud walls. I had planned on using R-13 fiberglass batts w/ a kraft paper vapor barrier. Those in the trades that I’ve spoken with say this is proper while others mention rigid or batts w/ no vapor barrier. Suggestions, please.

1" EPS Performguard against the wall
build your stud wall inside that.. with a PT shoe on the floor
insulate your stud wall with dens-pak cellulose
Everyone has an opinion but this is what has worked for me.
Certainteed dry-rite insulation
It is designed to adjust its permeability based on the moisture content of the spaces.
The key is that you want moisture to freely move thru the space and if you trap it, it will end up condensating.
I also keep the studs a couple of inches away from the wall with a dead air space (I run a strip of 1/2" sheetrock on the ceiling tight to the sill for firestop first) and keep the drywall up off the floor about 2" as well
worked so far.
