Help Please! This past summer my husband and I built an addition to our home. The addition has hydronic “infloor” heating. This was installed in 1 1/2″ pea agrigate concrete (which had a color additive and a “plastisizer”).
In several of the rooms, we do not wish to cover the concrete. We have seen “exposed” finished concrete floors that seems to have been stained and sealed with a glossy finish. The walkway downstairs in Bally’s Casino in Nevada is an example.
The concrete in question was troweled smooth day of pour. The concrete is now about 7 months old. It will absorb water without problem.
I am looking for product suggestions for a “glossy” sealer and a stain that is NOT opaque, something that would have an effect similar to staining wood.
Also, if we must etch the concrete, will the surface still be smooth? How can I apply (AND REMOVE) etching liquids without ruining my sheetrock?
Thanks.

Re the stain, talk to Jeff Jewitt at Homestead Finishing Supplies (440-582-8946, or [email protected]). I know he sold some dyes for a concrete pour at some big LV casino, perhaps the one you mention.
*You can stain the floor now after 7 months. As far as etching the floor spounge it on sponge it off is how ya do that.thentake baking soda and mix it in water and do that a few times then ya can roll or brush on the stain. The gloss sealer is call Jasco floor and tile sealer. You put on your frist coat and wait 1 to 3 hours. Then ya coat it again1 to 3 hours and then a the last coat it looked like a waxed floor. You can spray, mop, spounge,or brush the sealer on.We did a break room floor 2 years ago at a airport hangar and it still has a great shine and looks great.
