Just installed an “unfinished” Masonite front door. We like the color of the door (beige) from the manufacturer. Is that unfinished door color a primer? Or is it the color of the fiberglass? REAL questions: can we simply apply a quality top coat and enjoy the color in which it was shipped? Or must we paint over the existing color we like? Thanks.

1-800-663-DOOR Call them up and ask.
Most doors like these need some kind of finish to protect against UV damage.
and most of the recommended finishes change the way the door will look.
If you really like the color, it might be better to get a color matched paint, and finish that way.
Thanks, I tried. The recording said "Wait for a representative." Then, "no representatives are available, leave a message." Then, "the voice mail box is full." Then, "call us tomorrow."
I'll keep trying!
