I HAVE ROUGH CUT BLACK WALNUT. IT IS 18″ TO 5’3″ LONG AND 1″TO 3″ THICK. IT HAS SEASONED FOR THREE YEARS. THE THICKER WOOD HAS A TWIST. THE SHORTER (18″) CURLES UP TO 2″. ALL OF IT HAS A BOW. WHAT TOOLS AND METHODS SHOULD I USE TO TRUE UP THE WALNUT WITH THE LEAST WASTE. I”M PLANNING ON MAKING A MANTLE.
