Porches and porch roofs are being supported by ugly 6×6 PT posts, tallest ones are near 20 feet. What is the best way to make them presentable?

Skin them with something pretty. I once saw some skinned with vinyl siding. That was not pretty.
Make column covers from MDO board or suitable 1x material.Horizontal joints covered with 1" half round molding. You can install cove molding or bed molding at top, plinth and cove at bottom.I just finished a job like this, columns were only 7 feet to underside of beams. I used MDO and various moldings , bed molding at top, bead 12" down, cove at bottom.I made up three sides in my shop, slipped over 6x6 nailed, then glued and brad nailed last face.If you use long lengths of material it will take time to glue up, use polyurathane glue as it takes awhile to setup.I used titebond #2, but I was only glueing up seven feet.
