I'd use orange shellac and paste wax - no stain - but you'll soon find out I'm in the minority. Looks great on my floors - 3 years now - 2 very active little kids and Chicago weather.
*I used b no stainso as to highlight b the grain.And your basic Minwax poly, 3 coats.Beautiful red oak floor.Jack : )PS- I like the Bill Conner "shellac ideas" and will experiment with it ASAP.

Best test I've tried so far is to add a little oil-soluble dye stain to tung oil sealer,
then topcoat with polyurethane. This seems
to darken the pores just enough without really
coloring the surface much at all.
