How do you approach your first contact(you know, like at an estimate)? Right now its just a handshake and a business card, but lately i’ve been considering more. I’m thinking about maybe a small brochure or a letter introducing my company to them.
Just curious about what everyone else does. Who gets them? Everyone, or just your bigger jobs?

MSA, I'm with you. My approach has been pretty much from the hip, but one of my continuing projects is to systematize all client contact.
Once they've been qualified over the phone I will sit them down and discuss our company and what makes our services worth a premium. Probably a folder with some print material and a CD-R with some portfolio and text about our company, maybe with samples or proposals, selections sheets, etc. Then the talk about the needs will begin.
Like I said I'm still working on it so I'm excited to read the responses you will get.
