the house has concrete walls, we added a concrete garage with a flat concrete roof which will be tiled. i have seen it where they cut a groove a couple of inches above the floor to insert a bend copper piece that goes down to the flat roof and bends out. how do you cut the slot or groove? do you silicone the copper into the groove. i hope you guys can help me out with this. thanks

Right angle grinder with a diamond blade works well. You could also use a saw with a carborundum blade and a guide strip attached to the wall.
Don't use silicone, it's not good with copper. Use something like Geocel.
