Here I am, once again looking for help with the new house I am building… a couple years in. I am about to start siding – hardi – and building water tables and such details. My dilemna: A stone patio will be built on one sdie, requiring fill be placed against a sheathed wall about 12″ up from the bottom of the sheathing. I was thinking of ARXX membrane against the sheathing and copper against the membrane to receive the fill… until I priced copper for this job! Since this is not my vocation, I tend to oberbuild and even overkill; I am wondering if I am doing both here. This is my house and I want to do the best job; but I want to afford some mistletoe too. Looking for flashing options that will last a lifetime.

bill... i thought about your situation..
i guess your membrane ( which i'm not familiar with ) will do the job... i'd use Grace, but i bet your's is a more heavy-duty product
so the function of the copper is to protect the membrane... and i bet most of the copper will NOT show , but will be buried by the patio
i think i'd cover and protect the membrane with Hardie backer ( 1/4")
if there is a section that will show from the bottom of the siding to the top of the patio, that is where i'd use the copper , except i'd probably use a Black aluminum coil stock.... since it is mostly decorative... the real work is being done by the membrane and the Hardie
