Flashing (or ?) for bottom row of siding next to grade to minimize damage?
Hi,
I have a couple of sections of my exterior lap siding that needs repair. The repairs would be to the bottom 2 rows that are close to grade and have probably been damaged most likely by water “splash” back from the concrete pad next to the siding and abrasion/impact over 15 years.
The siding product is Maibec CanExel engineered fibre wood and though the bottom two rows are in need of repair in some locations, the rest just needs a paint job (hopefully).
There is no flashing on the bottom row and the only real protection before the plywood sheathing is a generic house wrap.
My proposed repair for the siding is using thickened epoxy (west system) and sanding to uniform thickness and shape (maybe with sanding disk for contour ridges). However, I’m not sure if I need to kick out the “splash” water with a flashing and what it would look like? Photo below shows the worse damage.
Any suggestions now that we are in mid-October in the north?
Thanks for your attention in advance.
