What do you guys use to flash wall penetrations such as dryer vents & hose bibs?

If possible, have the top edge of the vent or whatever fall just under the edge of the clapboard above. A piece of flashing can be slipped under the bottom edge of the clapboard above and made to lap over the top edge of the vent, but even without that the upper clap will shield the top edge of the vent from runoff.
Haven't got any special ideas for hose bibs. You could use a membrane material, I suppose, to get a good seal under the top layer of clapboard and run that off onto flashing exiting at the bottom of the clap. Or simply a tightly-fitting pair of flashings, caulked, under the clap.
Note that for phone wires and the like it's important to include a "drip loop" where the wire penetrates the wall. This is a downward loop of wire, looping down for an inch or so, before turning upward to go through the wall. This prevents rain from running down the wire and into the hole.
