Flat roof replacement….I know nothing.
I knew my flat roof was bad but just found out toady that it needs replacement ASAP.
I live in Toronto. The roof is not too big, maybe 200-300 sq feet. I searched the forum and came up with references to membranes and torch roofs but I don’t know what they are!
What should I use to replace it? What will last the longest? Can I do it myself? Links to a https://www.goldentreeroofing.com/annandale-va.php websites that can be of assistance, please.

Hi there, The most common flat roof material in my area near Boston is EPDM - rubber roofing. If your roof is a simple small rectangle, then its a fairly straightforward job. If there are penetrations, weird angles, and/or walls and transitions it will be trickier and the detailing will really matter. The underlayment for rubber is usually "recovery board" or foam, both over structural roof sheathing. The roof needs to have pitch, more is better. We usually aim for 1/4" per foot if possible. You could go to a good roofing supply house and they will have the roofing material and all of the proprietary components, primer, seam tape, lap sealant, drip edge etc. and probably a salesperson who can give you some good tips etc. FHB has definitely done articles about EPDM. I'll repost if I can locate it...
Issue 228 covers the basics
Thank you
Who put the spam link in your opening post?
You?
Or some sneaky dog?
Calvin, wasn't him, so it must of been a toady.
Mmmmmm,
I’m thinking it’s him as it’s in his first post now, wasn’t before so he must have edited.
Click on his picture and read his bio.
These last weeks have been filled with what I think are fake or perhaps infernal intelligence b.s. in both the original post and in the replies. It sucks and with no background info nor way to email the poster, there’s little to do but speculate.
And, with the forum now run by nameless and faceless operators, we have no recourse to find out.
The old days were both fun and pretty damn good. Now, a legit poster with a real question stands a good chance of leaving here with jack shit…
Pardon my French.
Hey Calvin, I agree - seems like there are definitely "bots" creating questions and answers. I haven't been active here for years because it was a PITA with bugs and navigating.. now we have this AI nonsense.. oh well.. glad you're still here to steer the ship
Fine,
Too dumb to quit.
Been here since almost its inception and take this bs invasion personally. Made some good friends here. Learned things.
Dammit.

Well I’m glad to learn something everyday if possible.
Today is complete.
Thanks
So this is your bio and you don’t need help with a problem, you want to stick links to your business which doesn’t belong here.
