flat seam copper roofing on 5 sided bay

Living in Alaskan bush, putting flat seam copper roof on my 5 sided bay window roof. Have the copper and tools and a Nov 07 copy of FHB article by Patrick Sheeley on subject with pics. also can look at his little 5 min videos on same and have actually managed to bend and install drip edge. Learning as I go, but not enough pics or info. Can’t seem to find any more pics or design instructions on line. Need help before moving forward. How many inches does flashing extend from wall onto roof. What does hip flashing look like on the southern end, is it folded under. What does hip flashing look like at the top where two come together, does one overlap the other. Where is there more info as in pics and drawings. How do I contact Patrick Sheleey or his website?

Sounds like your needed over here.

Typically, there is no separate flashing turning up the wall. The pans would be bent at the roof/wall junction. 3"-4" or what ever is the norm in your area.I would expect you have more snow than we do in KY.

I typically lay the roof across the hip and then cut off the excess and fold a seam at the hip and lock the next plane to that.
On a large hip roof, we lay across the hip and then solder a continuous cleat at the hip and lock the next plane to it, creating an expansion joint.
Alternatively, you can fabricate an inverted "V" hip cap to cover where you stopped both planes short of the hip. This looks clunky to me and is not as water tight.

Hey seeyou, thanks for the help, the weather is clearing and will give it a go today. Have tried to access the CDA website, downloaded it (took forever), but haven't been able to open it up for some reason. Need a geek out here in this little community. Thanks again, Disco
