Got an estimate from a roofer and he was mention that he had WC insurance and that all of his employees are Employees. And how much he was paying in WC and I mentioned that I knew roofing had a very high rate.
And mentioned about a job around the corner from me where a roofer took a header off a 3 story roof into the dumpster.
He talked about working safely and mentioned that where was no good Flight Insurance for roofers. Took me a minute to catch it.

But parachutes are optional.
Parachutes wouldn't open in time.
Would be better off with a trampoline.
You have to use those rocket-assisted ones.

We had one take a two story dive years ago and land unharmed in the mason's sand pile....
maybe a full perimeter of sand would lower the insurance rates a bit.
A La Carte Government funding... the real democracy.
I fell out of a house under construction about 4 years ago (not mine) two stories and a walkout up.
Apparently I bounced off the first floor and then fell to the ground on the walk out side.. I say apparently because when I went back to find out what happened nobody had seen anything (fear of liability I think) I don't remember anything because what I did was pick myself up and drive to my house where I thought I'd rest on my coach.. The pain started to get to me and I shifted my weight around....... and fell off the coach. I'm laying there in complete agony and I realize I can't move,,, at all!
about 45 minutes later I managed to stretch out my hand the 4 inches to my cell phone and call 911.
I litterly said "I've fallin and I can't get up"
Anyway they sent an ambulance and hauled me off to the hospital where they discovers the most violent black and blue and green and purple etc.. marks on both sides of my body. It took 24 hours for the swelling to go down enough so I had any mobility at all and took me two weeks of pain for the black and blue to fade and me to start to move without pain.
That apparently damaged my heart too because after that my blood pressure went through the roof and my endurance was greatly deminshed.
They apparently didn't believe that I'd done all that damage form a 10 inch fall off the coach. They checked my blood for drugs and alcohol . On top of that the cops questioned me for about 30 minutes. I honestly thought at that point all the damage had been done from my fall from the coach.
Only later after I read my call reports for the day did I piece together what had apparently happened.. One side of my coat was covered with sawdust etc. from landing on the first floor and the other side was covered with a unique dirt. That plus it was my last entry, and the mileage checked out.. (the IRS requires accurate records)..
If you laid down on the couch instead of a coach, you mightta coulda stayed on it without hurting yourself.
Remember when riding coaches, sealtbelts save lives, click it or ticket.

oops!
So how did you fall out of that building? Window opening?
Why the Cops?
As an old nurse I specuate, you might have had a high level of potassium in your system from the muscles crushing. It takes very little potassium overage to hurt your heart and kidneys. Crush injuries (that are knowen) are treated with an eye on your electolytes/hydration. Did they rule out a concussion? The medicos are now viewing head injuries as cumulative not just one time events. Just look at the pro atheletes that retire early due to # of concussions.
I used to do nursing at high school football. I had the last say in a players stautes and got into some heated arguments with the coach and trainers.
One trainer was asking this kid to walk of a leg injury and iced it. I was at the nearby hospital checking out one player after the ambulance dragged him off the field, ran into the other kid and his mother was hot as Heck because he was playing on a fracture femur. I gladly refered to the discussion between me and the trainer and good nursing notes.
If possible I would involve the parents, who 99% of the time agreed missing a game now is better than having no game in the future.
Adrenaline can keep you alive long enough to get home and die on the couch.and old seat belt ad up here in Sask. If you love your kids, belt them.

No at that time the walls weren't up on the second story so apprently I fell off the edge of the second floor landed on the first floor on my left side and bounced onto the lower walkout ground (about 2 stories) I say apprently because to this point I have no real memory of the event just my notes and a pieced together estimate of what happened.,
The doctors assumed I was lying because they couldn't believe I could get that damaged falling off my couch. When all the drug tests came back negative they thought I'd been worked over by someone or a gang..
Since I had no memory of events I couldn't help them and that sounded too fishy.
The really bizarre part is that apparently I got up and drove the 10 miles or so home and the first memory I have was deciding to lay down on the couch.
When I was maybe 10 I was riding my Dirt bike and slid off a dirt road and into a fence.
I'm missing about 1 1/2 hours of my life. My cousin was there to tell me all about it.....but the first thing post crash I remember was laying on the floor in the family room..............but apparently I had ridden the 3 miles of old railroad beds and dirt roads home.
When I had a General Carpentry policy, not General Contractors policy............I had bid on a small roof and asked my agent about coverage.
They wanted all of my roofing hours broken out seperately..........and then they would be billed at $100 premium for every $100 in payroll
