I would like to know if anyone has experience floating a solid hardwood floor over radiant heat. I want to know if you could glue on edge (or even biscuit joint) the wood strips over a thin pad and a vapor barrier and essentially have the same set up as a table top that can expand and contract unrestricted. I am thinking of using a relatively stable wood like austrailian cypress. I have a plywood sub floor, tubing and 1 1/2″ gypcrete. Tell me why this won’t work.
