I’m going to be installing a cork floor in a room above an unheated garage in the canadian prairies (cold cold winters, hot summers). I will use DP cels or spray foam in the floor joists, but am also considering a layer of foam under the new subfloor. (from bottom – up, joists, subfloor, sleepers 16″ oc between foam, 3/4 t&g, underlay, cork tile). My question is: if you were taking this sandwich approach and were using 2x sleepers would you use 1.5″ of rigid or 1″ of foil faced, effectively leaving a 1/2″ reflective space? How much of a comfort improvement might a reflective foil surface provide, if any? Gabe – if you’re reading this, what would you spec for a cork tile floor subfloor such as this?
Thanks in advance
