i am finishing a new oak floor with minwax stain and a polyureathane topcoat-after the stain and the 2nd coat of poly i screened through the stain and left light streaks in the floor-an application of stain covering the area seems to remedy the problem but am i in danger of the finish failing over the stain?

Depends.
Was this just a stain, or was it the Minwax "wood finish" product. If it's the wood finish product, it already has poly in it, and therefore will not be a problem.
If it was some sort of stain, it may depend on how you applied it. If you put it on, and wiped it off -- and you did a good job -- then there is probably no stain on top of the poly.
