What is your favorite way to transition between carpet finish and ceramic tile, at a doorway opening? Both my carpet, with padding, and the tile with underlayment, come up to about a 5/8-inch thickness.

Screw a strip of brass down over it? You can pretty much do what you think looks good. Consider whether some slight barrier might be needed for water that might come from the tile side, presumably a bathroom or kitchen.
