I recently installed my first ceramic floor in my kitchen. After a couple of days,my wife noticed that the grout was stained. I think I spilled some grease or something like it. It didn’t wash out very well . Is there a sealer of some sort to protect the grout in an area like a kitchen? Forgive my lack of knowledge.

There are many mfg. of grout sealers. It shouldn't be hard for you to find the product you need. As a professional tile tile contractor I use Aqua-Mix and Glaze-N-Seal products.
For your type of installation (floor-residential) I suggest a water-based sealer. As it is the kitchen, I suggest 2-3 coats. Apply with large, synthetic sponge and buff excess off tile face with clean cotton cloth. When applying first coat, pay attention to full coverage of all grout to avoid spotting (spot discoloration) of grout. Don't be in a hurry.
Before you seal: Clean ALL stains and contaminants off floor. There are degreasers available for this. Stay within the same brand, ie, use cleanser made by same mfg as sealer. DO NOT use bleach or bleach by-product on portland cement grout. For pulling stains out of grout, try cornstartch/white vinegar poulstice. Cover with damp towel, keep moist with vinegar.
Otherwise, follow mfg instructions.
For regularly scheduled cleaning I suggest a damp mop & 25:1 water/white vinegar.
*Another good sealer is Sealers Choice...two coats should do it..
