Can anybody give me a quick price per sf for a laminate floor installation approx 220 sf and a price per lf of baseboard, I am trying to come with budget before getting bids……. i estimate about 7 bucks per sf on the floor and about 3 bucks per lf (i do have a lot of inside corners) of the preprimed base board. Hate to go with laminate but it wil be on a conc slab and is also the room that is the main acces to and from the garage…..so carpet is out……… so my only other option is tile but the front room will be an office and the back a bedroom.
By the way i am in state college pa, any price from pittsburgh area will probably be a little higher here.
Thanks
Dan

In the Niagara Region (Canada) the price ranges from about a $1.00/sq.ft. to $2.50/sq.ft. depending on who's doing it and what level of quality your paying for. I charge $2.00/sq. ft.

Dave, thanks for the response, the 7 dollars included the material(s)........i think i can get a pretty good grade of the laminate for about 3.50 per sq ft, also figuring in the vapor barrier so i come up with about 7 dollars a sf. Do you have any pricing on the baseboard install?
Not price shopping just want to know what i should expect to pay for a quality job.
Been accused on here of not doing my homework before signing a contract to have a guy build me some build ins. By the way will this project require me to write a spec on what i should expect for the price?. Hate to said but it seems like everybody does shoddy work around here?
thanks again
Dan
When I'm doing the floors for a customer I charge .75 cents per ln.ft. to install, regardless what the trim is. If it is 1/4 round only it is .75 cents. If it is 1/4 round and baseboard it is .75 cents each per ln.ft.
If the customer wants me to paint as well I up the price to 1.00 per ln.ft. plus material. Other guys do it a little different. A friend of mine does $50.00 per opening. That means each window is $50.00, each door is 50.00 per side, and each room is 50.00. He likes it that way because it is quick and easy to quote a job.
In regard to your laminate, consider using the heavier 12mm laminate with the beveled edges and embossed finish. Looks great and goes down nice and easy. The thinner economy grade are good for rec-rooms and a cheap solution when you are selling your home. Otherwise, stay away from it if you can afford to. When it comes to laminate, you really do get what you pay for. "Shop with caution" don't get sucked in buying over priced crap either. When you are out looking at flooring samples look at actual pieces from the box, not just whats on the display board. Compare the "click" systems used. When you've looked at enough of them you will come to see the quality differences between them.
Hope that Helps
Dave
Dan, prices sound right in the ballpark for the better installers in State College. I'll second Doc's opinion about the 12mm flooring.
I read about your built-ins but didn't realize you were from the same area as me. I work in State College about 65% of the time.

around $3.50 ft sq ...
but for that small an area ... I'd probably be closer to $4.5 or $5/ft sq.
guessing somewhere in the ballpark of $1,500 labor for all would get me there.

I'm sure you know that I was fu#$%^& with ya!

As my little Mexican buddy Orbelene used to say when I suggested we go home early, "my bills, they not going to take the day off"
My kid took a bad hop at first base yesterday and I yelled at him to rub some dirt into it and get back on the bag..............I got some funny stairs from some of the other parents suggesting that maybe a kindergartner shouldn't be subject to the same macho behaviors as a crude basturd like myself..........SO, rub some dirt into it and get out there!
