I am now the owner of a 2008 E-250 cargo van.
My old F-150 had daytime running lights (whenever the truck was running the HL’s were on @ 1/2 power)
I would like to have this on my new van for several reasons including: safety, insurance discount, convenience.
I was told a the parts store that it was just a code that could be input into the onboard ‘puter.
seems reasonable.
Anyone know how to do it or whether it take a new switch or relay or something else??
Hope to finish up some Huck/Basswood inspired tool shelves this weekend.
pics will follow.

First check the fuse slot for a fuse. Some are just taken out.

Was that really it?
As I read your post, all I saw in my head was a fuse block, with a DRL empty slot. No kidding. It's true, I am psychotic..I mean psychic.

shoulda bought a GM van. They have the daytime running lights already
<G>
I'd check with a dealer ......... a good parts guy should be able to tell you if it's doable- iirc daytime running lights are the law in Cannuckistan. Don't know what the differences are between the US and Cannuckistanian versions but the parts guy should after a little digging around. I believe it was a LPO (limited production option) on your van .

There's a separate small module for DRL control. It appears as though the module location is underhood near the hood latch (looks to be to the passenger side of the latch).
If you happen to find a six-pin connector that is capped as is sometimes done, you'll probably just need to plug in the module and you're good to go. However, sometimes wiring like that is "give-away" to reduce wiring harness complexity sometimes it isn't. If it isn't, your DRLs would mean a lot more work.
FYI, by wiring harness "complexity", I mean the number of wiring harness the assy plant has to deal with. Basically, in the design of wiring harnesses there's always the tradeoff of having a ton of wiring harness part numbers (based upon vehicle feature content), vs. reducing the number of harnesses and having extra connectors not used that need to be capped, taped back (so as to not rattle), etc. There's cost tradeoffs to both approaches for the manufacturers, they just have to try to find a happy balancing point. This is sometimes also a driver for why features get packaged together as they do...
Thanx That is what I suspected might be the case.I will go see and let you know.

Well the fuse is in the box under the hood.and there is a taped down unused 6 connector inside against the outer wall left/brake pedal side.where might it plug into and how would I make sure it is the one I want??Looks like a trip to the Ferd dealer is in order.....

Like I said, if the connector is located up on the radiator core support to the passenger side of the hood latch, you're in luck. I couldn't tell from your email if that's where you found the connector. Hopefully you're in luck!
If you email me I can provide you the component location diagram and removal/installation instructions that show the location. I'll be out the rest of tonight (Saturday), so I'd get back with you tomorrow morning.
Also, I checked an online Ford parts place, MSRP was $90 for the module, the place I looked at charged $81 (+ shipping).
