Didn’t wanna drag out another thread…thought I’d start fresh.
The subject……Forrest saw blades. The question….as good as the hype? I need something for the 12″ chop..and the 10″ table saw. Money no object….if the quality is worth paying for. Yeah, right!
Looking for a glass smooth finish and long life thru hardwoods and such. Not much work thru melamine…mostly fpr trim installs…..and some prefinished cabinet trim stock.
Up till now….have been real happy with the DeWalt ..series 40, I think…the one’s that come in the cardboard folder. But always looking for new and better.
Who says what? jeff

if you can find FS Tool blades I'm sure you will be happy with them. No hype, just quality.

Almost anything will be a step up from the Dewalts....one f the worst baldes I've ever encountered. Sent one back (came with the saw) with a letter, and they sent me a new one just as mediocre.
Forrest...have the Chopmaster....decent blade, but way overhyped. Won't buy any more. I'm loyal to FS Tools also....very high guality, 2/3 the price of a Freud or less (another brand I won't buy uless trapped). Lots of threads here about Forrest.cabinetmaker/college instructor. Cape Breton, N.S
Where can FS blades be bought?.......... checked their link http://www.fstoolcorp.com/
no mention of dealers.
I have been using a pair of forrest 12" chopmasters for about 5 yrs., having forrest doing the resharpening, I couldn't be happier with the smooth cuts, no kick back, and long life between cuts.
blades such as FS are found in local sharpening/grinding houses. so contact your local industrial grinding and sharpening service.
IMO the blades you find for the industrial sector are just as good as the advertised blades you see in the magazines etc. come in plain cardboard boxes, have great carbide and have to handle multitude of cuts a day.
Well, not that long ago the premium you paid for hand-tuning a saw blade was worth the money. But now that "industrial" blades are produced by automated machines that produced better than 10 thou tolerances, the only premium you need to pay is for the materials..

Check out Systematic, not cheap, though.

Forrest in a table saw? Decent blade. Way too expensive for my tools. Never tried one in my radial arm saw or miter box.
The "Woodmaster II", or whatever it is I have, has ATB tooth configuration. I get the smoothest cuts through melemine with modified triple chip. Plus, particle board is awfully tough on cutting tools. I don't think I'd run any melamine through a $100.00 plus blade like a Forrest.
I think FWW just did a saw blade survey, Jeff. You might poke around a little over at Knots.
