Foundation Footing exposed by sump pump pit dug too close
Hello,
I am in a process of buying my first home. During the home inspection of crawl space, the inspector found the foundation footing is exposed by sump pump pit dug too close. The sump pump pit is located in corner of the foundation (See attached from picture)
He recommended to have professional contractor to evalute further for safety reason but may be simple solution.
I contacted seller to have licensed contractor to review the sump pump pit and safety of footing but refuse to do so but offered some credit for repair. I don’t feel too comfortable about the house and its safety not having peace of mind.
Could anyone review the picture below and insight on this?
Thank you in advance

pretty minor
Dig out a little more until you're on compacted fill, hand pack stiff concrete into the void created, back fill. A little bit of rough formwork might be needed. Unless it's more extensive than the pics show - or the crawl space is really low, this looks like about a one day job for a carpenter.
So what he's asking is roughly how much this would cost, since he has to ask for a credit so he can have this fixed by a contractor.
Doesn't look especially worrisome to me -- can be corrected as suggested. More of a concern would be that the sump not draw enough dirt/fill so as to further undermine the foundation. This would only be a concern if the pump is running fairly regularly.
Much ado about nothing
