I am building a homestead from scratch as an owner-builder retiree. Know just enough to be dangerous. Many head-scratcher moments for sure. I plan to site build several interior and exterior arched doors as one of many touches to try to make a cottage out of a single story rectangle. Anyone know of a good source or have tips on header framing (adjustable metal thingies?), casing (bendable fir ply?) and trim (bandsawn ply trim or laminated/bent?), etc. Prefer stained trim as opposed to painted.
Thanks for great discussions and practical info…

There was a good thread on this recently. Try an advanced search.
As for headers, they are set level, above the highest point of the arch. And, unless it's a very slight arch, angle-cut blocks are usually added to fill in the corners, to provide nailing for GWB and trim.
One of these days, I’ll go and take pictures of an old arched window that I trimmed out...
