Did FHB ever do a tool review on framing nailers, and if so when. I just saw a tool flyer where a Dewalt 31 degree, clipped head framing nailer (#BDD51823) was on sale for $299.99, $100 off. is this nailer any good. Who has tried it?

The Big Beautiful Bill could do away with much of the Inflation Reduction Act, including the 25C, 25D and 45L tax credits.

Don't know anything about the Dewalt gun. ToolBarn has it for only $269

Check customer reviews on Amazon and E-pinions.
Guys the actual model number on the Dewalt framing nailer is #51823. Is this model a newer model or has it been around for a few years?
Paul
It's been around since at least 2002.The FHB test preferred the Max and Bostitch stick nailers. Plenty of those here will tell you great things about Hitachi.Like Eric said, do a search here and you'll find more info than you'll need.
I bought the Max after reading reviews, and it did not come with the anti-double-fire mechanism. This was one of the top features listed for the nailer and it did not come equipped as such. Otherwise, it is a great nailer, but it is prone to the occasional double shot.
I recently purchased the Max SN883RH. It's lighter (only 7lbs.) and more compact (only 12") than Max's SN890RH. And it does have the Anti-double fire.
Bought it at Western Tool Supply for $289.
Sweet gun, for sure.
A reason you want a clipped head nailer? Clipped heads do not meet code in my state.
Well, the sun rose... in so many colours it nearly broke my heart... Worked me over like a work of art...and I'm all part of that...
Maybe I'm just stuck on what I'm used to, but a Paslode has been very comfortable, trouble free and light enough to do everything I've needed and I have been pretty rough with it. I haven't spent more than $30 total to repair my current two guns in 4 years
And----
I've been using the 5300 plus for ? 10?years and still going strong.
I had checked at one point with the Paslode site and sent a question about using the round head Paslode nails and they said it wouldn't? But I forgot and looked at what I had been using and they were the new rnd head. So go figure? maybe they didn't want me to keep using the old 5300 and buy a new one.
Only problem is on occasion if I'm not thinking/slow I'll double fire.
I also have the siding tip to use to keep from scaring the face of some uses, like some nice fencing I did.
About 4 years ago, I had my 5300 ripped off. It absolutely killed me personally to have to buy the modern Paslode after wearing in a callous on my retro rig. That older gun was tried and true, however, the same can be said for the newer models. The one that I have and use is my own, even though there are two other guys. This gun has a few hiccups now and then, but that's usually because the compressor is full of waer.
A friend used the Dewalt and said it was junk. Make sure your code always clipped head.
I would stay with Hitachi or Makita. Everyone once in awhile, amazon will have the makita clipped and round head for under $150 but the deals are quick to run. Also, I doubt that nailer is $400 at any store. $300 is something you can get it for fairly often at amazon when they run their discount offers.
